Any person using crab nets or crab lines for the purpose of taking crabs for recreational purposes shall not be required to purchase or possess a basic recreational fishing license or be required to purchase a gear license. You have to buy a saltwater but not a basic fishing unless you are on a WMA

Seems pretty clear that you need Salt + Basic if you are on a WMA or Refuge...

Also seems pretty clear that you do NOT need Basic to crab...

The vague part is do you need a saltwater fishing license to crab? HINT: You must have Basic to purchase a saltwater license... haha
