Academy in Laf. on ambassador was out last week. I just made me one out of a 3/4 in. conduit. Used a pipe bender to bend it. Not the prettiest thing in the world but works very well.

Get some aluminum pipe and go to a muffler shop. I'm sure they will bend it for you for cheap

10' piece of 1" PVC pipe with 35' of 3/8" nylon line.

Splice a 2' eye in the line.
Run the line through a hole in a 1" cap
Place capon pipe and run line through pipe.
Run line through another cap on opposite end of line
Pull line TIGHT and tie figure 8 knot to keep pipe from slipping down line.

A Cajun Lasso.
And it won't mar your fiberglass all up.

I do get rub marks from rig hook, but they aren't bad cause its made from aluminum. No weight equals no damage. And at less than $100, buying one is worth it

I just throw a rope over the rig's pipe. The use an extending rig hook to grab a pull the rope back to the boat. After fishing you can unscrew the rope grabber attachment and screw on a brush to scrub the deck.

Default Rig Hook

Highly recommend the rig hook at west marine with the pull cable, alot shorter and can be stored in the ancher box. This is what's left of a Academy rig hook after 3 trips. I will say this had no buisness being out there even in a Cape Horn! LoL.

Did you have a rubber piece between the rope and the hook?
