Any help please!

The water was dripping from the tank

Then I followed it up to the unit were it was a little puddle

Then I noticed a small drip at the pipe leading in to the attic.

Could this be the drain pipe clogged up and if so is it a somewhat easy fix?? Thanks fellas

They sell nitrogen tablets that that a long time to break up clog. Get an air compressor , cut the drain line so you can get a good seal around hose n blast it toward the exit of drain. Then splice drain back with some PVC fittings

Sometimes yes, it is an easy fix. First things first open the cover of the unit and make sure the pan is full. If the Pan under the coil is full then it's the drain backing up. If the pan is not full then 1) The pan is busted and leaking, or 2) a connection on the drain pipe is leaking. If its clogged we normally blow it out with compressed nitrogen, and if that doesn't work we recommend a plumber. If you have an air compressor you can try doing the same. Stick the end of of your blower in the end of the drain inside of the Pan, and seal as well around it with your hand as you can. Good luck!

Thanks fellas. I opened the unit but can not find the pan. I may be in over my head here. Lol.

Find the drain outside. Blow compressed air back through the drain wrap a rag to make sure all the air is compressed into the pipe. Yes it will blow stuff and water into your attic, it will also clear the line. Have someone do the deferred maintenance on the unit next week...the small amount of water will dry q uickly in this heat.

When you put the line back together put a T in the line the come off with a nipple go from the nipple with a 2 inch screw and put a cap on it Put a bottle of bleach next to it. Every time you go up there remove the cap and pour about 2 cups of bleach in the drain line. This will keep the crud from building up in the drain lines

When mine clogged up last summer [17 years old] .......I cut the PVC line, wiped it clean and I just blew hard on the line and the "clog" broke free.

Then I had to re-paint my celling where it had a water stain from the leak.

The pan will be where the PVC line goes into the unit. As far as the Clorox goes..... Alot of people use it but I recommend my customers to use a cup of conventional drain cleaner once a month. Also I recommend you have a emergency drain float switch installed. If the drain backs up it will shut the unit down, and prevent water damage to your ceiling.

No problem, forgot to tell you make sure you pick up some drain cleaner. Don't be afraid to dump the whole bottle it needs some help to keep it flowing. Just pull the cap off that clean out I installed.

I had to deal with the same stuff when i got home yesterday, it was 85 degrees in my house when i got home, and no telling how hot in the attic, but it was the same issue the drain was clogged, luckily the float switch prevented to much water from dripping down the ceiling
