OK, some details. Dad wanted to go fishing and I couldn't get away til at least 11. Put in some work at the camp and shoved off at 4:35 with light winds. Approached first spot with so-so water and lined up the first drift. Second cast produced a keeper, stuck the pole and took two more on jigs. Continued on down the line of the long reef with two other drifts, but just couldn't stay on any fish.

Shower to the north popped up and built enough that it ran us off to an island. It was overcast from the shower and first cast with a SSJ resulted in hook up and loss. Dad scored a keeper on his first cast and the chop made me want to dump the Spook and feel the thump. Another boat joined and limited our movement, but set the pole and commenced to whacking, a lot of small fish and some keepers up to 16 inches. Also messed around with a cork a bit, which the dinks adored.

Dolphins were feasting fifteen feet behind the boat, but never once charged a fish. I threw the cork right next to the dolphin action and got five strikes but never hooked up for more than a second.

Anyway, notched about two dozen keepers and it was just getting good when Dad got nervous and pulled the plug and we left at least 40 min of prime time on the tab. No reasoning with a 75 yo man and a maybe wet arse. Regardless , very much good times!
