Maybe a mink, I had one that snagged 3 of my chickens a while back. I've also seen one chasing a rabbit while I was bow hunting.

yep, if you live anywhere near water it could be a mink

maybe the rabbit got hung up in the hole in the wire by its neck and strangled itself. Then after it died it fell to the ground?? Idk, this is interesting though, let us know what you find.

Leave him in there for a week or so and feed it some corn, let it get fattened up. Then cook it.

cook some rice!!! them things are usually too smart to get caught in a trap, but when you do catch them they make a good gravy
