I left the fd myself to go back to school for nurse/nurse anesthesia. I left for the same reasons you are unhappy. It sucks working 6 days a week to make 50k a year. But if u want to stay in the fd then a good route is to get rope rescue training and you get sent out to plants and things to do hole watch making about 18-20 an hour. Roco rescue will tell u everything u need to do. Also if you wouldn't mind goin back to school go get a degree in radiology tech or respiratory therapist. Both are good jobs for part time work that make real good money in the A/C. Especially rad tech. Just my 2 cents on the subject
