I lived in maryland for about 20 years, fished all over that area.
Your gonna laugh but in that neck of the woods that fish is called a white perch, It's caught in brackish / salt waters, and is very very similar to what we would call a white bass down here. Good fishing to be had around the hampton roads area, you have striper runs yearly as well as your regular fare of salt and brackish fish. Also there are some freshwater lakes / oversized ponds not far from little creek which offer good bass and other freshwater fishing. You are within striking distance of some of the best monster catfishing area's. James river around Richmond is home to Mega Blue cats with fish regularly topping 70lbs Potomac river just up the road, holds a much higher number of big cats (there are many days that you can go out and catch 20+ 20-40lb fish in a single day) but the cats are not quite as big as they are on the james. Wouldn't keep any of the bigger fish from either of these rivers though... heaven only knows what kind of pollutants they have seen in those waters. |
