Me and my roommate rent a house with waterfront access to the english bayou so we are going to build a blind for this season, but we don't want to step on anybody's toes. Any reports, advice, or experiences?

Yea I saw all the blinds on the bayou, but in a lot of public places people get really pissed off if you take the blind that they built. Is it like that out there or does everyone understand that you don't have the rights to a blind on public land just because you built it? I want to try and avoid confrontation if I can.
