Danny fully loaded with 2 fishermen I could turn 6800 i did not do that for long as i suspect my tach is off a little. At 6000 i was running 45.3 mph on my gps. as this ould be almost no prop slip so I think my rpms are a little higher. By myslef and an ice chest and fishing gear at 6000 i was seeing 46 mph. I think i could turn even more rpm than the 6800. . This is a worked 2 stroke merc on a edge 556.

Yamaha makes that prop in a 16 pitch, a great running little prop. A good prop man can stroke it a little and get it to 17+ pitch. I would not let anyone local touch it. better yet, you could order what you want from Ron Hill. He can build you a bi more diameter, let's you raise the engine height, and build anything from a round ear prop to a cleaver 4 blade. He is the best prop builder in the country and reasonable. Call and talk to Ron, a great guy, give him all the data on what you are doing, he can work you a rocket prop. Doesn't show much on his website, but, he is the man when it comes to performance propellers. Go to his forums and look at some of his work, beautiful stuff.

If you like everything about the Yamaha prop but the rpm's, get the 16 and try it. Motor height should stay the same, it will drop the rpm's by about 250 and may gain a little speed. I run a black yammie prop on my Merc when duck hunting. It has been reworked by my old race prop guy, runs decent. D |
