New Boat Return?

Buddy of mine just bought a new bass boat. He picked it up today, ran it and engine gave him trouble already.

I have heard with a car purchase you have three days to return, is this true and does it apply to a boat purchase.

Dealer has repaired boat already but my Buddy is a little leary now, as I would. New boats are very expensive!

In automotive, you do have 72 hours to "unwind" on the deal. The dealers scare most people to the point that they feel like they can't but, yes, there is the possibility.

I am not certain that the same law would apply to a boat though. I hope he gets the situation resolved though!

Once boat is registered the boat is his its used and probly wont get them to take it back unless he has a really good dealer.

Same with a car once titled its used and cant be reversed

All turned out well and I am happy to say that with out any hassle of raising hell the dealer replaced the engine with a new one off the showroom floor. The dealer was Henderson Implement. They really seamed to want to make him happy with his purchase, as they should with a new boat purchase.

Not true. If you go to a dealership and sign a contract to buy a vehicle. You own it, its up to the dealer to let you out of the contract or not. But on the other hand if they come to your place to sign then you have the 72 hours. This is to prevent people from coming into a dealership on a Friday and joyride for the weekend and return on it on Monday

I returned a brand new boat the day after I picked it up. Mildew in all the compartments, caulk in live well and water in rod holders to name a few. Dropped it off on a Sunday afternoon and called them on Monday morning. They didn't even want to argue their side.

Never pick up a boat in a dark garage.

What was the brand of the boat?

It was a Sea Pro, but it had nothing to do with the boat and everything to do with dealer. I called another dealer and made the same deal over the phone. Boat was perfect.
