You can probably go through the Louisiana Trapper and Alligator Hunters Association to get some help and in contact with him. He's a board member I think. I want to say he's from around Dry Creek area?

This is the guy charging $50/dog...

Oh ok. Well I know he knows a thing or two about trapping dogs. Hope you get the situation under control. I can see that it is a steep price, but then again the fur prices are practically nothing. Hate to hear of good cattle going to waste cause of them things..

Isn't this on par with putting out antifreeze for a nuisance animal to drink?

They get about $100 for em in N La, so wonder if he charges to $50 to trap them and then sells them? Great idea if so

Fun fact

coyotes exhibit compensatory reproduction so if you have a good bit of land with lots of coyotes and wage all out war with them and kill a bunch the next couple years they will reproduce like crazy and sometimes come right back even stronger. If you do this every year you end up hurting yourself, but if you wage war on them every other year you actually do better

Your losing me here duck (not hard to do i know)

But wouldn't a continued effort have better results than a cyclic one? or am i missing something.

Sounds like they will go into a mating frenzy to compensate for the reduction. Best to ease into the extermination so they don't notice the numbers dwindling and go Miley Cyrus on your property.

Had them bad up here a few years ago. And it's true you got to kill 75% of them a year for 3 years to run them off. Donkey/muels help. Like posted before if you hit them with a light kill them!! They way smart!! Or get a night scope and shoot them off the backporch. Or out of you truck, that's what we finely ended up doing. Hogs a different story !!

I wonder if you could bait em up with some meat of some sort and kill three or four in one sitting if they were all bunched up together. I know they used to get on our deer camp gut pile really bad and there would be a bunch of them down there tearing up the carcass'

Had a guy told me one time he had a problem with them. He said he used PVC pipe traps. 10" pvc pipe cut about 36" long. Dig hole deep enough to leave 3" sticking up above ground surface, bury pipe at slight angle, 10 degree maybe?? Throw bait like scraps or anything they want in the bottom of the pipe. He said how it works is they will go head first to get to the bait, but the trick is, they will fold their front legs back to get down the pipe. once they are in the pipe, they can't back out of it. He said either choot em while they are in the pipe or pop a cap in their azz when you pull them out. Not sure about the exact dimensions I listed, but might google and find something.

BTW. I've heard before people selling live coyotes to people that run dogs on them in big fenced pens. There used to be one of these pens off Holbrook Park road southeast of DeQuincy. Not sure if they still do that but might be something to look into. ??? $$
