The wind probably carried the sound because we didn't hear it . But we saw the initial explosion and then could still see flames and a big cloud of black smoke.

Seen that huge black cloud from my blind too, didn't hear it but probably thought it was someone shooting. Killed a limit this morning all came in as doubles, there weren't a TON of birds in my area but there was more moving than there has been the past few days for sure. Shoulda stayed and hunted tom morning before work.

No bs we seen a couple thousand this morning. All big groups too 10+. We had a group of probably 40 drop in on us about 8:30. You didn't see the flames too? When it blew they were probably 300 ft high.

Saw a the black cloud and shooting flames in the sky from my blind this morning also. When we came out around 900 didn't see it anymore. Anyone know what it was??--Had to be some petroleum based fire I would thinki

I must have just missed the flames because I looked up and seen that thick dark cloud and it has just started smoking...that would have been an interesting duck blind story!

Yeh we heard an alarm going off for a while and said it sounded a production alarm offshore. Then the alarm went off and we saw the fire ball. It went away after a little bit then came back for a little bit. Seemed like it was something may have been getting released and ignited. Some guys I hunt with said it looked to be in the direction of the plant down there.

I've never seen a flare stack on a drilling rig put out that much smoke or have a fire that big. I think you were right about the alarm because we could see a strobe light flashing. Whatever it was they got it shut it In quick. We saw the second explosion a lil after the first also.

Didn't hear or see anything. We did have some "fireworks" at the launch leaving this afternoon, but nothing that big.

Had a little starter problem on the mud boat and I guess it got a little rich when we were trying to start it. Had a nice flame shoot out of the headers. Just took a little hair off of my brothers arms. It was funny to watch him abandon ship in blue jeans and work boots!!
