Kayak trolling

I don't own a yak but I do know the trolling methods works via regular boat, actually quite successfully, normally works best in 6'-10' of water along the channel where fish are known to congregate. In 6'-10' of water, you keep the bait off the bottom. I would think, although not a 100% for sure, being I don't own a yak, that you will have more success trolling with both rods out the back. IMO, if you try casting with one and trolling with the other, you will not always be going fast to enough to keep the trolling rod's bait off the bottom while casting the other rod. When you are trolling and make frequent stops, your bait tends to hit the bottom and you are more prone to get hung up. Remember when trolling, it's important to keep the bait off the bottom. As for as baits, really anything plastic you would normally throw, ie, sparkle Beatle, swim baits, etc. my favs are the Beatle and the power swim baits. Hope this helps and good luck!
