Default Help me fish SouthWest Pass (please!)

Planning a trip to Venice on Halloween. Would like to run the river to the very ends of the jetties in SouthWest Pass. Never fished there.
I've fished the first and second spillways and Burrwood bay/bayou and have almost always done very good, but I really want to try the jetties.Something new.

Should I stay in the river and fish the insides of the jetties? East or west sides? Or fish the outside?

Popping corks or on the bottom? Plan on throwing jigs with Gulp shrimp tails and Bassassin swim tails. Then some live shrimp or croakers.
What is the #1 tactic for BIG bull reds?

I know to keep my eyes peeled for tankers and their wakes.

Any info, advice or input would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks.

Should be thick with the bulls. #1 would be cracked crab on the bottom. #2 in Venice area would be a bomber popping cork and black and chart paddle tail of your choice. Rip it HARD they like a lot of noise. You can beat the canes along the river with a big spinner bait and crush big reds.
