Default Louisiana shopping at its best.

Needed something to cook for a bunch of people tomorrow during the saints game. So me and the girlfriend loaded up the truck and went down to a friends property near Herbert's in Henry. 2 hours later with only one net we were done.

Gave a dozen to a buddy that was tearing up the reds in the canal behind us and left with 13-1/2 dozen crabs! 2 dozen for the pit tomorrow, 9 dozen to boil, and 2-1/2 dozen small ones to put in the freezer to make a stew later. Had 10 lines out and even if we would of had 2 nets we couldn't have checked the lines quick enough.

I dont think a lot of people realize how lucky we are to have the resources we do. 2 hours of work a pack of turkey necks and maybe $10 of fuel. At market price we would of spent over $300. Me and a buddy are gonna head back with the yaks tomorrow and get some reds.

They $32 a dozen live for large, $18 for medium, and $12 for small right now at Harvest seafood here In Erath. No way I'm paying those prices. Only time I ever paid for a crab was when were short a lil for a crawfish boil, and we couldn't find another sack.

I was just curious what the price was, so I called harvest here in town. Not sure what you mean though.
