headed out to the island early. on our way out birds were diving so we stopped and fished a few sets. picked up one small trout and missed a few more. decided to get out to our spot so we left. anchored up and it was on fast. not even two minutes after being anchored up I landed 3 white trout and my dad hooked into a big red. Got him in the boat and then 5 minutes later I hook into one as well. got him in and in the boat. we put our redfish gear up and focused on white trout ground mullet. while in the middle of landing trout after trout I set the hook and my line starts ripping off the reel. I caught my PB redfish of 42" today. not my heaviest but my longest. after a 30 minute fight on 12lb test he decided to give up and swim in the net. definitely made me want to put braid on all my reels after that. but then again the fight is what we are all after and that's what makes it a sport... released him to fight another day. at the end of the day we left with 83 white trout and 2 redfish.

went out to the island again. worked some more birds on our way out and once again there just wasn't any fish under them. made it to our spot, dropped anchor and threw a line out. the boat was still swinging into position when the drag took off. landed the first bull red. picked up some trout then about 3 minutes later my dad hooks into one. had our limit of bull reds within 10 minutes of fishing. ended up catching three total. ended the day with a little over 100 trout
