Default Vermillion Bay 11/16

Fished the cove this morning in the fog. A buddy and I picked up 31 trout on mostly live shrimp under a popping cork. Great bite from about 8-8:30 then damn near stopped. Picked up a couple more on pearl and chartreuse saltwater assassins. Water was not great, slight green tint and lots of boats!

Thanks for the report, did they only bite on live under a cork before it stopped? Or did y'all not throw plastics til after it slowed?

was out there yesterday, water in Cove dirty, also at the TP. water much cleaner closer to Weeks Island in WB, but no bites in spite of us using live shrimp. Finally went to West Cote Blanche and picked up a smorgasboard of a few specks, some small reds, small but keepable drum and sheephead.

Guess we shoulda fought the crowds today since it sounds like the water was much cleaner.

Kayak fished the cove this afternoon. Picked up a 14 and an 18 right before dark. Water was pretty nice. Both caught trolling plastics slow

We actually fished plastics first thing in the morning by the mouth of Shark Bayou without a bite. Decided to try the cove after about a half hour of no bites. Live shrimp seemed to be what they wanted, as we were the only boat around us catching. Had boats within 50-60 yards catching nothing while we were hauling 'em in one after another.
Picked up a couple fish on plastics after the 8-8:30 bite slowed.

Awesome. Gonna make a trip this week. Do you use treble hooks with your live shrimp? If so, what size.

Mostly used Kahle hooks under popping corks, but you can use treble hooks also. Don't need to be very big trebles. Also grab a pack of 3-way swivels from Academy and some small weights (you can even use split shot) and fish the bottom with live shrimp if they're not biting under popping corks.
