Havent been able to make a duck hunt yet on our lease in the basin yet this season because of the low water. My neighbor owns a crawfish pond literally in my back yard. He called yesterday to see if me and my son wanted to help him out with taking out some of his crawfish eaters(aka mergansers) We obliged and had a great time and had a few good birds to boot. Not too bad of a trip with no decoys and really thick rice. Ended up bringing my pup with me on her first hunt. She is no way near ready, but figured it would be good for her to romp around in the pond a lil and get her beak wet. She actually found 4 of my birds that I couldn't find. Anyway, the basin was on the rise this past week, so we headed off to see if we could manage a hunt tomorrow. Still couldn't get to the holes, and it looks like the water will start back falling again in the coming week.
All in all it was a fun day though.
