Hairout Vermilion bay schedule for year?

So i know that fall specks come into bay and it was hot all the way through November. When does saltwater get good again here? When do the reefs on gulf side of marsh island pick up? Just curious of how to spend spring fishing...thanks

Rev, a veteran Vermilion Bay fisherman told me to watch the river gauge at Butte La Rose. When the guage is at 10 feet and falling after the spring flood, then fishing for specks is worth the gas in the bay. Until then, you can catch an occasional redfish, blue catfish etc. It has been great advice for me. Until then , the reefs south of marsh island and gulf rigs are the ticket.

X2 on after the spring flood of the river. I normally start catching reds on the inside in April depending on the wind around V-Bay

Caught my limit inside this afternoon. Water was beautiful. Nothing big but was steady. Caught during split of duck season on days wind would allow. They never left. Kept all fish 16-18 "". Slow under cork is only way I could catch em using 1/16 oz head on deadly Dudley jr letting wind and current move it.
