Long socks and big rubber bands around your ankles helps. Long sleeve shirts and neck gaiters (the tube-shaped fabric the Florida guys use for sun protection on neck, ears and cheeks) help a great deal.
I've never used the Amber Romance, but the Swamp Swatter has worked very well. And it's a local company. |

I have heard of good results from a spray called Rhino spray. They use it on the Georgia coast where the biting gnats are the worst I have ever seen.
Swamp Swatter, why didn't you want to sell to Wal-mart? |

+1 on dryer sheets, I use the old ones and they still work great. I rub them all over any exposed skin then I put one under the strap on my hat (top of the bill) and use fishing line to tie it there if it doesn't have a strap and I do the same by the ears. I guess im hard headed but I cant stand those screen bags on your head so I rather stay home then use them.
I also stick one in front and back shirt collar and in each sleeve to keep em off my hands for some reason I find they are attracted to your breath so it helps to wear a rag over your mouth and nose and it also helps so you don't inhale them damn little invisible piranha make fishing tough on calm days |

Mix a couple drops of vanilla extract into a spray bottle of water and apply as needed or use Avon SSS.
