Yea, I only get about 2.5 yrs also but like you, I fish a lot.

A academy on the north end of Lafayette has Exide Agm with 750cca on clearance for $99. Seen them a hour ago.

DON'T:
Do not keep them on concrete as this will kill the cells.
Do not let the batteries get dirty, dirt/dust will drain a battery over night.

DO'S
Use a battery maintainer like the prosport 20
Use an anti corrosion spray or gel to keep the posts clean and in good shape

Also, there is a new technology that is referred to as conditioning or desulfation. It uses high frequency pulse to disolve the sulfates off the lead plats. There's industry data showing actual longevity increases, units are reasonably priced as well.. Battery Minder and Noco Genius get a lot of good reviews.

Anyone know if the optima last as long as the interstates?
