One of the guys that makes custom wood pirogues and kayaks recommends to use Ultraply XL that is sold at Lowes... He says that Luan or any other Luan type material will delaminate over time.

He uses 6oz E-Glass on the rolls. S-Glass is about double the cost but it holds less resin so it will be overall lighter.

I've never done this but I enjoy reading and watching some of these custom builds... This guy I'm talking about makes some beautiful boats.
