When I was first learning how to throw a cast net, I observed several people on a weir throwing. I picked out the good throwers and watched. Each one of them had a different style but I noticed they all had something in common. Each one made a circle with the throwing motion. The hand always went to the hip then up and around. Picture a Hula Hoop that is 8 foot in diameter around your hips then tilt it up at a 45degree angle. Make your hand try to follow that path. If you watch people throw the "banana" you can bet that they are not following the path of the hula hoop. They will stop the circular motion which will cause the banana. When opened, the net is a circle therefore your throwing hand has to follow a circular path and the follow through is the most important. Think of trying to spin the net vs throwing it for distance.
