All I am saying is 10 fish no size is not an answer. I have no issue with people eating fish. That is what they are here for. I do have issues with no management at all. 10 fish no size limit is not management in my mind. Vernon is a much better lake to fish than Bun****s or Anancoco. Now Vernon will just be another Anancoco. On vernon you can catch 20 to 30 bass better than 14 inches easy and you have a shot a big fish. Can not remember a trip there without catching at least 1 fish better than 5 lbs. I have lived and fished in other states. La is one of the worst for catching big Bass. I love teh state but we need better fish management.

But the point remains that the issue was too many small fish left. You cant leave a bunch of fish in the water and expect to grow big fish. Why are they leaving too many small fish? Something about the slot limit was not working apparently.

If you aren't going to stock forage species, then you have to take more fish out. It seems the issue WAS the FACT that you could catch so many 14" or greater. Well, if you are catching 10 fish, and 8 of those are between 14" and 17", you are leaving 80% of the fish in the lake. If you don't have enough forage to support that, you aren't going to grow big fish.

And as far as Texas goes, over half of the Top 50 largest Largemouth Bass caught in the state have been on Lake Fork, which is stocked with Florida Strain Largemouth Bass. You are going to get bigger fish when you have Florida Strain running through there, and you have a small enough population that the forage will allow larger fish.

If you aren't taking enough fish out, you aren't going to get big fish. Simple as that. If you have 100 fish sharing a limited resource, you are going to get smaller fish than if 50 fish are sharing the same amount of resources.
