For what it's worth, i agree with you here... Tebow was picked on because his views didn't fall in with what mainstream america thought a football player should think.

But to be fair i think both Tim and Michael Sam situation are very alike... Both of them held personal views that were outside the mainstream. Both of them stood by their convictions even though they knew it can and would cost them dearly.

Took a lot of nerve on each of their parts to stand up for their convictions... opening themselves to ridicule and possibly cutting themselves off at the knees. Thank goodness that sometimes, doing the right thing trumps doing the easy thing.

well I agree with most of that except the first sentence.

he was picked on because his views didn't fall in with what mainstream media and liberals thought a football player should think.

his views were exactly in line with what mainstream America thought people should think

MG, if one of your kids comes home and says they are gay, you gonna disown them?

Although main stream media certainly played its part, I don't think that the average american thinks it important to constantly and publically give thanks to god. I would hazard a guess that most give there thanks personally in a private one on one with god. But i do understand what your saying.

Point that i was trying to make is that they were both following there convictions in a courageous way. It took courage for Tebow to break with the current norm and do what he did... It took no less courage for Michael Sam to do what he did.
