How do you fish your cocohoes?

When the water is cold and they are deep I cast and let them sit and drag them very slow. Sometimes it is hard to know you have a bite. During warmer weather I pop them off of the bottom reeling low. But then again we have been drifting Lake Ameda in January and the trout wanted a opening night cacahoe 2 feet under a cork, popped as hard and as fast as you could ??? Best thing is let the fish tell you what they want
