I use a net and my not-a-boga once the fish is in the boat. Smaller fish I just flip in the boat and grab em though.

I flip the fish in. If the fish is big in use the net. Once the fish is in the boat I use my cca fish grabber to take the hook out

Boga only on reds. Flip the smaller trout in, net the larger specks.

We net 'em all. A net of the proper size and good netting technique will lose far fewer fish than flips and grips.

Sometimes after we get a dozen in the box, we'll get cavalier about it. But, even then we grab the leader and lift them in to control where those barbs are. 4-7 lb fish usually need a net.

I will boga a red bc I hate reds and don't really care if I lose him or not. I'm gonna let him go anyway. I just fish with tops or suspending baits so I don't feel like fighting the trebles out the net for a red. A trout over 4, I will net. Anything else just flip it in.
When I'm wading I just carry a boga. Net gets in the way and I have seen many times someone go to net one and the trebles get caught in net before they get fish in and it comes off. |

I think pretty much everyone flip smaller fish in. Was just wondering about nicer size fish. My little one fishes with me a lot now and some of his have to be netted because he's not ready to flip them. I was just curious if anyone used a boga in place of a net.Would much rather have another rod in the holder than the net.

It's just more work to boga them. You have to have that big fish worn down. Hard to grab that lip when they still fired up throwing their head around without getting your hand on the line. And of course the longer it's in the water the better chance of it coming off or break you off with all the tension. If it's a nice fish and I'm fishing from boat, I'm netting it always.

Only use boga when sporting my braid and putting lunkers in people face

If im in a boat and its a good fish 100% net, then I'll grab it with the boga to take hooks out
