We've been in a line almost that long at Belle Pass. The peeps were all very nice. The bull reds were hitting schools of mullet that day, so we tried to scoop up some mullet in our landing net and never quite got one. The boat next to us offered to share some they had cast netted, but I couldn't bring myself to risk spoiling their fishing by motoring up to them, so we stuck with cracked crab on the bottom which eventually worked (always does).
If you want more room at the jetties (any jetties), go in the afternoon. Most afternoons, you can take your pick of any spot you want to fish at Belle Pass or Calcasieu Pass or Caminada Pass. |
