About 12-15 years ago when I first started taking kids fishing at trash pile, people were tearing the trout up with that method. Jerk like your setting hook, reel, jerk, reel... we weren't catching until a guy told me what I was doing wrong (slow jigging). Don't see many fishing like that any more, and I've not had great luck with it since. Well, I don't have great luck fishing anyway....
