Charity event "No Guides"
????

You would think when you have an charity event to raise money for a person you would not discriminate anyone who willing to donate money!

I can only image who came up with that idea !

Fishing a tournament on a guided trip is the equivalent of having a Chef on ur team for the Duck off.

Yes but a charity tourney is supposed to be about helping the charity not the winnings.

It's a "charity event "

It's not a pro tour or company event

It's to raise Money !!

Me and two buddies would if fished it and that $75

But since I hold a guide licenses I can not fish a charity event !

All I'm saying

It's still called a tournament and people would like to have a chance at winning without having the cards stacked against them. If it weren't about winning you could just say lets all fish on X date and drop money in a bowl, and be just as successful - we all know that's not the case.

How many guides won the SaltyCajun event in it's 5 years ?

1 that I can recall and that is out of 100-150 people

You do it for the charity not the winnings

I have to agree the guide exclusion is silly unless its a cash tourney thing, if they want a separate "lesser" class for guides or guided trips then do that but if you exclude them you exclude a large portion of anglers that don't have their own boats and only go with guides.

very true and guides just give you a better chance at success to find and catch fish in general but it wont affect the odds that much especially as far as size goes and you still have to "catch" the fish and that's purely random. will it make a huge difference with pure novice anglers, yes but only because they are less educated anglers and at a disadvantage to "all" the other anglers not just those using guides

Update for the tournament, due to circumstances out of my control the weight in locations and captains meeting had to be moved due to Jag's closing there business. The Captain's meeting will take place at Putter's on Friday, October 24, 2014 during the hours of 6 PM and 9 PM, Putters is located at 7795 Lake Street, Lake Charles LA. The weight in for the tournament will take place at Calcasieu Point which is located at 3955 Henry Pugh Road, Lake Charles LA. You can stay pay via Paypal to enter the tournament, you can pay during the Captain's meeting or you can give me a call (337)-309-2647 and we can meet and pay that way. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
