only on the most finaky of days would a head color matter but then the same can be said for using a swivel on the end of your line.

many who never use a swivel because they swear it makes a difference will say head color doesn't make a difference when in truth they both will make a difference under the right conditions but overall in general since water clarity is the key to how much difference it makes, the area you fish and the water clarity you have there decides.
