Default Bay Boat Compass

Finally got some funds to put compass on boat.
Any recommendations on size, make/model, color, type of mount?
Will be placing on a bay boat.

boat compass is a boat compass IMO, they all point north.
I can't see buying a model that is twice as expensive as another model.

If you have a spot on the top of the console the Ritchie TR-35 is a good buy for a CC bay boat. Don't waste your money on a cheap flimsy bracket mount compass; it will not stay accurate (there are good bracket mount compasses but not cheap good ones). It is better to save enough boat bucks to do it once. As in buying tools...it is better to cry once when you buy the best than to cry every time an inferior but cheaper tools breaks and is repurchased.

I like the flush mount compasses. Remove that useless speedometer form the console and replace it with a flush mount compass.

agreed, all the top mounts I have ever had cheap or expensive, have lost fluid over a few years. (but of course mine stay on the boat out in the sun year round)

I bought a small 2" "Ritchie" dash mounted one and it has been going for 8 years now and no fluid loss or accuracy issues. best one I ever owned.

I think the reduced glass area exposed to direct sunlight matters a lot in fluid loss with those top mounted bubble compass

How about just using your phone if you need a compass in a bind? Compasses are so 90's lol.
