Default Lake Vacation

Hey guys, my wife and I are thinking about changing up our normal beach vacation and would like to stay at a lake with a nice cabin. We are looking to stay somewhere within a 10 hour drive for 4 nights and try to keep the cost around $1k for the stay. Anyone have any suggestions?

We have found a few, but they are hard to search for.

Idk about prices, so this may be out, but there are some real nice places up around Table Rock Lake in Missouri. And there are other lakes not far from there that are not as well known so may be cheaper. I've got a buddy up there so if you're interested in fishing I can probably get you some info.

My wife would freak if we wouldn't leave LA lol she knows the boat would be behind the truck if we'd go there

As awesome as that would be, I want to show my wife some different landscape with the small mountains and all. She's never seen that

If he knows some nice places to stay on table rock that would be nice. Preferably a place with a nice view of the lake. Those lakes are so huge up there it's hard to find a nice place, not to mention that most state park websites suck.

Lake Oua-ch-ita in AR near Hotsprings is a great spot and about 7-8hr drive (or less if you have a lead foot and a radar detector). Crystal springs, near the center of the lake on the South shore, has a great marina, rental cabins, and a great little smokehouse near the main hwy with the best beefstick I have ever tasted. There are many other rental options but Crystal Springs in a very convenient location.

Excuse the dashes in the lake's name....the obscenity filter is being a bit aggressive!

Also check out lake DeGray in south central Arkansas. We took a couple family vacations up there and it was really nice. We would rent a houseboat for the week and travel around the lake. Kept a bass boat tied to both sides of the house boat for our daily trips!

Could you PM me with an address that way I could see exactly where along the lake it is. Also if you had any pictures/website I wouldn't mind taking a look.

Lake DeGray and Lake Oua****a are nice. Greers Ferry Lake is a little further north and much more scenic with mountains. Canoeing real close (with lots of smallmouth) and can rent a party barge for the lake and it has walleye in it. Some of best trout fishing in the country right there also. Lots of hiking trails in the Ozark National Forest. Got a spot up there where the elk come out every evening you can see them off the side of the road.

Go with another family during the "off" season, rent a houseboat and have a great time. You will love it.
