Default Cross Bayou/Saline Lake

Put in at cross bayou Saturday morning and never actually made it to the main lake. Hadn't been there in about 20 years so I didn't get too adventurous. Caught four solid fish and one dink. Kept the dink because I was about to pack it in and leave. 5 is better than 4 also. Black and red spinnerbait with double Colorado blades is what they were biting. Man it felt good to bass fish again.

Nice fish !

I'm from Marksville and use to fish that area quiet a bit. It's probably been 20 years myself since I've fished there. For the longetest time my personal best was just over 7 lbs. caught in shad lake between saline and larto lakes. It actually was closer to shad lake but was in the water way that connects them.

Glad to see its still kicking and congrats on the trip !

I hear ya ! It's not always about the size.
Nice to get your line stretched regardless of size on any day ! For me it's all about the catch ... Lily pads wrapped around just adds to the excitement! LoL

How was the boat traffic ? Hear any other reports while there ?

Plenty of boats running the bayous. Not crowded though. Everyone was pretty spred out and running from place to place. First 3 came on small points with thin lily pads and it was cloudy. Last two I got after the sun came out. Still black and red and came off of a clay bank with flooded brush. The mud line was out at the edge of the brush and that's where they were. Right on the edge of the muddy water hiding in the brush.

When I joined here I didn't expect to see a report on Saline ... Given "Salty Cajun". Thanks for the trip down memory lane !

Thanks for sharing and congrats again on the outing and catch !

We put in at Phil's landing on cross bayou. Week before a 10.38 was caught about 50 yards from the ramp. You ever want to make a run just give me a shout. Can use my boat to save you the extra tow miles. John
