Default Lowrance chip help

Looking for some help with my Lowrance Elite HDI and the card it came with, "Lake Pro V14".
When I plug the mini-SD chip in, I get this, no contours for the most part:

But when I remove it, I get this nice map with contours shown:

My waypoints, routes, and trails are shown with or without the card in, but do y'all know if this is normal? And will I be able to load my routes to be able to do the Insight Genesis mapping?

My base lowrance maps have topo data on them, but dont show some of the marsh and back waters that my Navionics premium chip does. you can switch between the two overlays in the menu fairly easy. Not sure how it works with insight. I Have and Elite 7 HDI.

I have an older LCX28cHD and when I load my Navionics HotMaps Platinum the shipyard your showing does not have any contours as well. ( pretty much the same map your showing in photo number 1).

However my preloaded base map for inland waters has more detail of the same area also... (although not as detailed as what your showing in photo number 2). Maybe my unit is too old to be as detailed.

Same as you I can also see my routes and waypoints with either map. I know this isn't any help but your not alone in the search ! LoL

I know there is an option to flip flop software like ratherbefishing186 mentioned but its kind of aggravating to buy a chip ( although yours came with it ) and have in this case more info with the already built in software.

Good luck on your search to figuring it out ...

One more thing ... I just though of this. Is the map card they shipped your unit with for this region ? Just curious ... as the older cards you had to specify the region your in.
Maybe your mini SD not for SE La. ?

Jeff

Thanks for the replies. Turns out my chip doesn't cover BL so I guess I'll just use it to transfer data and hope that insight will work without the card being in at the time

I was having issues with the topo not showing up with my Standard mapping chip. If you go into the menu there is one selection that says water depth. Make sure it is checked off. I will try to go get a picture for you and place on here in a few.
