Default Friday on the Beach

We got out last Friday afternoon late and were able to put some nice trout in the boat with some additional reds and black drum. It was calm and nice with not many boats. We heard that there was better action in the morning on plastic but we did good on live shrimp under a cork. I love to see a cork go under! Ended up with a box full of big trout and extras..

In general when fishing the beach south of Lake Charles they are referring to the area south of Sulphur down hwy 27 where it hits the beach. From there most people head west down Hwy 82.

Starting about 5 miles down Hwy 82 there will be rock "breakers" out a ways from the beach. These rock breakers go along for about 10 miles.

People are fishing around the areas of the rock breakers. The water is shallower on the east end and generally a little deeper the last few miles of the breakers to the west.

In this stretch of the coast, there are 5 or 6 "named" beaches. Here are a couple pic.

West of Holly Beach on the rocks. We were fishing on the western end of the rocks on the outside. We made an afternoon trip and seemed to do better than the waders but I heard that the waders were doing well in the mornings as well as the people in boats. North wind and good water is the key.
