Its almost like if your in 2'-3' or less there is almost no point in having a unit at the bow. Greater than that 2'-3' foot range and good to go spot on reads.
I have an older garmin unit and it works fine, most of the time, but some times it gets "STUCK" when reading under 1.8 ft and I have to reset it

I love having the unit up front, I have seen 0.9, 0.8 and Im like OH SNAP and get the heck out. "to me" a unit is essential to my fishing style. in certain areas I like to be in 8 ft casting to 3 ft, fishing the shelf so to speak, if it drops off to 12, 14 then I know Im too far, or if it goes to 5 or 4 then Im too close

theres been many places I "wanna check out" I troll in and next thing I know Im getting too skinny, crap then I back out. I would end up getting stuck, many times if I didn't have one
