Don't know about where to go in that area but the shark laws are pretty strict here. They've gotta be 54" I believe from nose to fork

Caught several small bulls in weeks bay and Shark bayou Shark bayou is right next to cypremort point so may catch some there Only thing is there is a swimming area right there and might not be neat idea. Drive on down to grand idle or holly beach and go for the big boys

Your best bet is to hit the beaches. Rutherford Beach near Grand Chenier and the beaches west of the Calcasieu Ship Channel have easy access and plenty of sharks in that range. Mostly black tips and thicker in the late summer/early fall.

Cocodrie, Dularge, and Grand Isle have more bull sharks than any place I've ever seen. Try near the fishing beaches, but don't do it at the beach where people swim in Grand Isle. Use fresh cut, bloody fish as bait, and you won't be able to keep them away.

Grand Isle, bring a cast net and wade out and get some good sized mullet. Get one bleeding, chunk him out there and you will get a Shark or Bottle nose Dolphin.

Shark Bayou is closer to Lafayette and I've caught plenty of those small black tip sharks there. It also runs adjacent to Cypremort State Park so you can fish off the bank or at that point with the shade tree and picnic table and is a nice, comfortable place. Catch some fresh mullet with a cast net and cut them up. Fish carolina rigged on the bottom in the middle of the bayou and it won't take long.

Catching sharks is fun. A lot of people confuse black tips and bulls. Bulls have a black tip on their anal fin and black tips do not. Have fun and good luck man.

From time to time, you can catch them (juvenile bull sharks) in the Basin. I've heard and read stories of the fishermen catching them, especially in the lower reaches.
