For maximum tenderness and sweetness, you want to blanch it first. Otherwise, the sugars will keep turning to starches and some other enzymatic processes will continue that turn sugars and starches into cellulose (less tender fibers).

Yo Ducky dude we have received unexpected corn like that when we didn't have time to mess with it just took the ears as is and threw them in th freezer as is. We used them over the next 6 months mostly every time we lit the pit we threw a few ears straight from the freezer to the pit. It was very good corn and we would do it again in a heart beat.

Thanks guys. I'm grateful for it but didn't want it to go to waste. I would give it to someone else before I let that happen. In da freezer we go.

Been there done that. We got a sack full from a friend this year and shucked cleaned cut and froze some on the cob then stripped some off and made about a gallon of moc chew ?sp? but when busy or caught by suprise we jsut chuck in in as is and use it first. It may have gotten a lil hard but not so ya could tell specially afta dredging it in butter and seasoning.
