Went last week (Thursday) and before the weather hit picked up a limit of reds and a dozen nice specks on plastic 1/4 oz jig with white body chartreuse tail in the surf at WHiskey Island. We caught them in the surf. Water was a nice green. Plenty of baitfish. Sometimes they'd hit the second the bait touched the water. We left them biting due to the growing storms in the area. Once the west winds began to blow the water got cloudy and the fishing slowed.

Went on Sunday. The wind was fast and the bite was slow. Best to wait for good weather.

Went last weekend too, made it to Last Island and drowned shrimp in the wind and dirty water. Packed it up and finished it off in Chauvin. On the bright side, the boat ran GREAT! lol

Went again this weekend with my crew and brother in law went with his. BIL has more success with live croaker on the east side of Isle Dernnieres. Around 50 trout.
I caught 20 nice trout behind the east side of last island on artificial. Slow bounce off of the bottom around some well heads. Sorry, no pictures, my trailer cratered on me at the launch and I went to crisis mode. |

Me and fiancé couldn't make it to the islands stayed closer in. Found a nice point with a reef had shrimp and pogy flipping out the water but no trout not even a hit. Tried fishing some ponds but only managed a black drum, a red and a sheepshead

Went last Thursday, it was beautiful , fished well heads behind last is. Caught about 200 11 3/4 trout. But did manage to get 45 that were 12" several sharks and a big nasty.
You really have to circle those wellhead, fish close to them and out from them. Most of the fish we caought were 20yards out from the wellhead . |
