First off I don't carry in church basically because bit is against the law. Secondly, because of your special training you were declaired a "security team" which only allows you to carry in church with permission. You cannot lawfully disarm anyone. Third, the more you refer to it as "if you come into the MY church" just makes me not want to go there. It's supposed to be everyone's church. We all have a basic right to protect ourselves and each other. Unfortunately we have hoops to jump through to do so the way we would all like to. The whole "I believe that I am trained more than you are" or "I have special permission and you don't" is the same attitude that we as gun owners are fighting against. I understand your intentions but it sounds like a broken record to me. We all have to obey the law, no one's disagreeing with you on that. The right to cc or oc should be encouraged not discouraged.

I don't think CC's stance is unreasonable. Large crowd, bad situation and not knowing the skill level of people who are packing. I don't agree with being disarmed myself but I understand why he has his stance. I also don't think it would be unreasonable for a member to be cleared to carry after showing a satisfactory skill level to the security team. Pass our qualification and you are clear to carry. Too many variables to have everything perfect. I think if you carry a weapon you have a personal responsibility to maintain a proficient skill level.

AMEN to both you and Shawn. It is anything but an ego trip when I refer to it as my church. If you dedicated as many hours to your church, you would take ownership and responsibility for it. I take my responsibility seriously. I am not special, any more than the person gifted with Praying, or Giving, Pastoring, Greeting, or Singing. We simply have different ministries. Each is using their God given talents to further His kingdom, NONE of us are special. And here's a news flash, NEITHER ARE YOU! Our Security Team just says, until you can prove your proficiency with a weapon to OUR satisfaction, you will not be allowed to carry in OUR church. Take that any way you want it, criticize it, butcher it, I really don't care at this point. I have tried to explain it as simply as I can. And if you don't think anyone on the team can tell you to put your weapon in your vehicle or leave, shoot me a PM, I'll meet you at church Sunday. You might want to bring enough money for bail. |

Ok, let's try this again without getting someone's feelings hurt. No one here is trying to say that what you do is a bad thing. It's a good thing. My opinion is just my opinion I believe that anyone who believes in the constitution should understand that we all have the right to protect ourselves and family in any way, shape, or form necessary. Now, on another note, I can't invite you to my home and have my neighbor going around telling guests that they need to leave or be disarmed in any way. That is my job. I need to put up a sign or tell them myself. I am the property owner, not my neighbor. You sir, are not the property owner. I also believe that no one is more capable of protecting my family than I am. As are you with yours. It's first and foremost my responsibility and no one else's. I should not have to prove that to anyone. But once again, I know the law and abide by the law. It says I can't carry in a church so I don't. The solution to making this society safer is to arm more citizens, not disarm them. Even over regulating is not a good thing. While you limit us, the bad guy will still get a gun. I may not be training to be in a fire fight, but I am more than capable of protecting my self and family. No one should be allowed to take that away from anyone. These are my views and I don't expect everyone to agree with them. Just don't take them to wrong way. I do obey the law. It doesn't mean I always have to agree with it.

You will never keep guns out of the hands of stupid people. The problem is when you try to keep them out of the hands of the good ones. Leaving good honest people defenceless against stupid people. Unfortunately there is no real way to regulate this. The good will be good and the bad will not give a sh**. Just like the saying: "locking a door only keeps the honest people out". We have all heard different variations, but you get the point.

Agreed, and never out of the hands of the criminals. Tighter laws only hurt the people that obey the law, not the criminal. Now better background checks that might identify those with mental problems could help.

Dog, you hit it. The problem is, every time better background checks is brought up, the screaming about gun control begins. Say what you will, certain types gun control is a very good thing. Otherwise we would have felons legally carrying guns, AGAIN! Vidrine, I hate to say it, but I don't think you'll ever get it. And you are definitely wrong, I am fully authorized to tell you that you cannot carry in OUR church. Like I said, PM me, I'll give you the address, see you Sunday morning, bring bail money. How about the bouncers in the bar you frequent, they don't own the bar, yet they can throw you out, how can that be? I'm done trying to explain to you, PM me, see ya Sunday, I'll prove it to you. In fact, I am I the process of training a security team in Lafayette at our Sister Church. Not a single member OWNS the church. Let me get done with their training, you won't even have to travel to prove your point. Just let me know when you're ready How about the off duty deputies paid by some churches to do security, they don't own the church either, challenge them and see where you end up. Your argument does not have any credence to it. Some very good advice. Sine some want to challenge the legality of Church Security Team authority, you might want to brush up on Louisiana Law. Here's a supplier of Civil and Criminal Law books that are state specific. You might want to read a bit before you start challenging anyone's authority. http://www.lexisnexis.com/store/cata...dle-29324-epub D Last edited by CajunChristian; 08-12-2015 at 01:49 PM. |

Sorry, bud I already know the law. Not sure how many times I can repeat myself when I say I do not carry in church because it is illegal for me to do so. Personally with an attitude like yours I would rather not rely on you to protect me or my family. So I will kindly decline your offer. I will say again that my views are my own and that's all. Sorry if that gets you panties all bunched up. Someone commented above about laws allowing criminals to legally carry. Seriously? Since when would that matter? They carry anyway. The only people that suffer from more restrictions are law abiding citizens. But, I am done here. I really enjoy this sight and reading the topics that all you post. So I will let this whole thing go. Difference of opinion that's all.

Everyone here knows I have strong views on guns but I do believe in background checks. Although I do believe the system needs some changes. I do believe that if you pass said background check you should be able to buy anything you want. Go to academy and buy a bazooka if you want to. Go ahead and get a case of hand grenades since you already there.
