I have Progressive for my 28' Chris Craft and my 19' Cobia.
The Chris Craft was $460/year for replacement cost and $100K liability. When I bought the Cobia, they hit me for an additional $166/year for it. $30K insurance plus $100K liability. I thought that was pretty dang good. Hurricane Ike messed up my Chris Craft. It stays in the water all the time. The adjuster came out and paid for the shipyard to pull the boat out of the water, pressure wash it and paint the bottom. After he took pictures of the damage, he input some info. in his laptop and it spit out a check and a list of what each item cost to buy and repair, including hours for labor. I gave the paper to the shipyard and they said it wasn't enough. They called Progressive and faxed them what their estimate would be. Progressive sent them another check, no questions asked. When the work was just about finished, the shipyard sent them another fax and photos of damage that their adjuster and I didn't see. The adjuster and a marine surveyor came out and looked at the damage and printed out another check, right on the spot. I talked to the shipyard about buying and installing my own radar and that would pay for my deductible. Worked out well for me. I thought Progressive was the easiest insurance I ever dealt with, for anything. |
