Killed this one a couple years ago in NE LA rice fields.
Looks like a gadwall x mallard.
He was the size of a speck and I thought about putting him on the wall... then I ate him.

Gray duck greenwing cross. I killed one two years ago and sent it to Washington state college. tissue samples verified its origin

I believe you about your teal cross, pretty cool actually. With the white neck band, calling like a mallard drake in flight, and the slight curl tail, mine def has some mallard in it. If anyone knows where to send a tissue sample in to get confirmation I'd like do it, but I'm pretty positive of what the results will say.
