I find I get more actual fishing time with a longer drive/shorter boat run. Most of the places I fish aren't places you want to try to run before daylight so If I can cover some of the distance in the vehicle I'll do it. Tuesday I woke up early, drove 3 hours to launch, fished all day and drove 3 hours back, totally worth it.

Nice easy ride though, except for a part of 90 around Jenaerette where you looking for the trim switch in your truck because you bouncing so much.

Franklin bridge. I have a camp in Chauvin and have always had a boat ride before. The drive is much more convenient. The truck is always more reliable than the boat. If you ever had to get towed back to the launch that eats up a day, you will understand! I also think it gives you more range to explore and run if you need to o the water if you truck it .
Just my opinion. |
