I noticed that too, but it seems the catfish is at a huge disadvantage in terms of speed and quickness. Which I'm sure affects the type of food in their diets. I suspect their diets overlap, but they are not the same.

I also notice the direction the fish were facing with respect to the current. Confirms conventional wisdom.
