Atch River dropping fast

Tchaf currently just above 13ft and has really started to drop fast. I expect/hope to see a change in salinity in Verm Bay soon.
The salinity is still very low (1-2 PPT) but expect it to start rising.
I've found another important indicator is the Verm RIver at Perry. When this drops below 4 ft and the discharge steadies at or below 1500ft/sec then we can get some real saltwater intrusion into the bay.

It is leveling off and will begin a slow rise in about a week. The rise will last about a week then it will start falling again. All bets are off if we get heavy rains to the north.

Hell it's still at 12 feet after the drop. Is that level low enough to give V Bay a break?

It can get good. But only if we dont get constant southeast winds to push that river water into the bay. It's best when it gets into the single digits.

I know for sure a north wind will muddy the bay from Atchafalaya river. why would a southeast wind muddy the bay?

Because the mouth of the river is to the east. It moves that water into cote blanche bay and vermillion bay.

southwest/west winds typically bring saltier water our way
