Old School
Us old guys like Billy and i can remember when casting rods didn't have triggers. Not that i ever fished w/ one .(not quite that old)
I'm sitting here looking at a triangle shaped fiberglass actionrod w/a Miles bay casting reel from the late 40s /early 50s and it has a pot metal / cork handle w/ a spring loaded reel seat. It has a trigger. but i have seen earlier rods w/o triggers
