You clean surfaces with denatured alcohol. Spray 3m spray glue and peel the sticky back off and apply the hydroturf to surface. I’m very much a perfectionist at things like that and it took me about 3 hours to cut and apply to all surfaces. Not sure on exact life but 5 years still looks new. My buddy still has his which is probably 15+ years old. Now his isn’t in great shape but he uses it for duck hunting and doesn’t take care of it(ie. Never cleans the muck or brush out and leaves the boat in the sun all year long

I did not use spray 3M. Just peeled and stuck it down. Not saying anything about using the glue but from my personal experience laying it on a non porous surface, you don't need the additional glue. When this stuff sticks, it sticks lol.
