its not like everybody that fishes live bait catches big fish... so it still takes some skill to catch big fish either way.

Good point Meaux. And you still have to have some kind of idea where this 8lb. trout will be, fight the beast and put it in the boat (boga or whatever). I like fishing the fake stuff, but if I caught a hog on the live ones it would make no difference to me.

Do they taste any different whether you catch them on artis or on live bait? Last time I checked, they taste the same no matter what you use to catch them.

IMO a fish caught on live bait is NOT a trophy! trophies are givin to people who compete is SPORTING events!! Soaking a natural bait is in no shape or form sportfishing

I personally like to throw back anything much over 5 pounds, there's no reason to kill that one exceptional fish just for another fillet unless your going to mount it.

If I am with someone who wants to eat it/show it off, throw her on ice!

I eat what I catch. I got enough trophies from junior high. It don't matter as long as it's in the boat. You come on my boat, fish what you want - I got two baitwells. I'll switch between plastic and live and go back and forth all day.

But I admit, after I catch an 8 lber on whatever I use, live or plastic, it'll be the first thing I throw for a loooong time!
