If the motor is in good running condition you might need a different prop. Another thing to look at is the motor height. The cavitation plate should be just about level with the bottom of the boat. This also depends on if you are running a jack plate or not.

I'm running a 14 pitch powertech reb. I believe it has some cup from the factory. Turning it 4500 rpm.

I'm running a jack plate with 7.5 inches of setback. Cavitation place is between 1-1.5 inches above the boat bottom. I'm taking it to a friend's house tomorrow. He's got a neighbor that's pretty familiar with suzuki's. I'm going to let him run it and check the setup and see what he thinks about it.

That is one problem for sure....that motor should turn 5500 rpm's at WOT. On another note that motor should not have a problem turning 5500 rpm's with a 14 pitch.

Scott came over yesterday to look at my set-up. He left with a few go-do items regarding his set-up and motor performance. Met Scott for the first time, real nice fella.

I don't know how true this is, but the guy my uncle bought his boat from told him that he put a jack plate on and it slowed the motor down a lot so he took it off.....

2ndamendment's a pretty good guy too. I ordered a manual last night and I bought a voltmeter for the house so I should be able to get those things checked out pretty soon. Thanks for the help.

I think if it's set up wrong a jack plate could slow it down, but I like having one on mine.
